I don’t have to run, I get to run
I was in a car accident when I was 18 that resulted in 2 back operations and a neck operation. I was told running might not be for me anymore.
And I believed that. For years!
I then had 2 knee operations (bad genetics) that solidified that thinking.
Until one day I’d had enough.
I’d had enough of being told that I can’t do things.
So I signed up for a 5k, bought new shoes, and started training.
And as an ex track athlete, it was FREAKIN HARD to run anything more than 500m.
But I persevered, made it through race day without an issue, and fell in love with distance running
Running has taken me on adventures around the world, and has introduced me to some of my best friends
I wouldn’t be who I am today without running

Suffering from pain in your ITB, knee, shin, or arch of your foot? Check this out:
👉🏼What: Single Leg Sit to Stand
👉🏼Why: You run on one leg, so are you training on one leg? Single leg work is key to injury free running and will help improve strength, balance, and control
The single leg sit to stand is also a common clinical assessment for runners as it’s a good indication of your hip/knee/ankle alignment during the mid stance phase of running gait. We don’t want to see any collapsing here 🙅🏼‍♀️
👉🏼How:
•From a seated position with feet hip width apart, lift one foot up off the floor
•Think of a capital Y shape under your foot - big toe, baby toe, and heel. Now keeping weight even through all three points, drive up into a standing position keeping your hips level.
•Lower back down with control, and try not to let momentum cause you to rock backwards
•If you can’t quite do single leg yet, try a staggered stance first. Once you’ve mastered that, extend your leg straight with just the heel touching down. In both cases, most of your weight stays in the other leg.

One of my dear friends ran her first half marathon

One of my dear friends ran her first half marathon
She trained her absolute butt off for it!
The following Monday at work, people were asking about what everyone did on the weekend and she proudly said that she ran her first half marathon
Only to be told ‘oh, I wouldn’t have guessed that, you don’t look like a runner’
Her achievement was taken down by just a few words from an ignorant a$$hole 😢
Thankfully, she didn’t let it get to her too much. But people REALLY gotta stop commenting on each other’s body types 😤
